These photos were taken during production of our show which features Doug Andrews with the topic:

The Right to Bear Arms As you can see, The TLTV Team is always Cocked, Locked, & Ready to Rock!

This was the conceptual rendering of what the new set would look like when finished

It turned out very close to what was planned, if you compare to the rendering above you will see that the red columns on the desk are missing, they were determined to be too distracting and eliminated from the set. It's nice to have a new home at WSAV, a great new set and the best production crew in Savannah!

The story behind the

Talking Law TV

Desk Microphone.

Since the early days of television all the great news makers and commentators had prominent desk microphones, Edward R. Murrow, Chett Huntley and David Brinkley, Walter Cronkite, Jack Parr, Johnny Carson, Tom Snyder, and if you look today even Jay Leno, David Letterman and Larry King all retain a desk microphone as well!

Technically of course they were needed up until about the early 70's, then crane mics did the job off camera overhead until lapel mics were developed that were small enough and good enough to do the job.

So why do we have one in 2008?

Tradition and Aspiration.

Tradition: because TV is like baseball, some things just need to be there...just cause.

Aspiration: because all of the names above denote quality and professionalism, goals that we think are worthy and if it takes a little metal, plastic and some wiring to remind us...that's OK!

This carpet is laid down before the set is assembled for each programs taping.

Once the walls are set up the desk is assembled.

This is the TLTV Desk, it was custom made to allow for clear camera angles of the hosts and guests.  It may look smaller than it actually is, it measures 84" x 42" x 30".

Roll in the chairs, set the Microphone and run audio cables, focus the studio lighting, check the picture and sound check audio levels, we're all set!

Talking Law TV is shot with three television cameras.

Here's another view of the set right before show time.

This shot is SCMPD Chief Michael Berkow (center) on the set before cameras rolled to shoot the very first episode of TLTV.

A view from behind the camera operators as they roll forward to begin another espisode, this one with ADA Christy Barker.

This is the control room where Jennifer, our director calls camera moves and select shots.

The now empty set awaits deconstruction until another day of production rolls around.
